Monday 8-29-11            Remind students-if did not pass safety quiz-need to retake!

Obj: Students to learn symbols in art & application of symbols in positive/negative space

BW: students to pick up ‘Name in Symbols’ project started last week-continue    

Strategies: application of terms; creating original works, positive & negative spaces

Resources:   paper, markers, rulers, examples of assignment

Act: 1. Review &  Examine examples of assignment:  “Name in Symbols” DUE TODAY! Counts 2 grades!

            2. time allows-create student portfolio

Eval:  Future-vocab quizzes; analyze student assignment

Tuesday 8-30-11

Obj: students to learn about art philosophy-how to judge art works including their own

BW: pick up textbook and notes folder; define Ch 2 vocab-see list p 13 (13 terms)

Strategies: Close reading; discussion; compare & contrast; application

Resources:  The Visual Experience textbook; student notes folders; handouts

Act: 1. Review Ch 1-as relates to Ch2 (including vocab); 2. Begin reading and discussing info from Chapter 2.

Eval:  student discussion- will apply knowledge to art works throughout school year; vocab test

S & S: 9.I.I.C;  9.I.II.D          

 

Wednesday 8-31-11    Begin Map Testing today-students will be assigned to a group!

Obj: students to learn about art philosophy-how to judge art works including their own

BW: pick up textbook and notes folder; review vocab from Ch 2-completed on Tuesday

Strategies: Close reading; discussion; compare & contrast; application

Resources:  The Visual Experience textbook; student notes folders; handouts

Act: 1. Review first half of  Ch2 (including vocab) began on Tues 2. Continue reading and discussing info from Chapter 2.  Thursday and/or Friday will have Ch 1 & Ch 2 Vocab and Chapters Review Test

Eval:  student discussion- will apply knowledge to art works throughout school year; vocab test

BW: pick up textbook and notes folder; review vocab from Ch 1 & 2 (ready for test)
